This course serves to review the basic cardiac anatomy and physiology with specific emphasis on the coronary arteries, their location, distribution, histology, and properties that distinguish them from the other arteries of the circulatory system. The course will illustrate the vital role of the platelets in the pathogenesis of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) and the inflammatory process involved. The pivotal role of the 12-Lead ECG will be discussed together with description and definition of Unstable angina and Non ST-segment and ST-segment elevation myocardial infarctions, their complications and outcome.
